Water Ingress Drivers side

Featured Replies

I am not sure if anyone can help, but any advice would greatly appreciated!

I have a Ford Fiesta 2010 plate. It has been leaking under the driver's side pedals for around 6 months now. We had some really heavy rain and my car was flooded front and back driver's side. I have pulled the carpets up and seen that it is coming in under the mat that sits under my pedals. It only happens when it is raining and if my car is parked at a certain angle it does not come in. I have lifted the mat under the pedals up and poured water on the windscreen and can see the water rolling in under the mat. My windscreen has recently been replaced and it is still leaking so I am fairly confident it is not the windscreen.

Does anyone have any ideas of what this could be?

I would remove the carpet and underlay a big job but it’s the only way to dry it out really and run a hose while sitting inside a seeing where the water is coming in

Hi Bzoo,

I've dealt with this issue on a couple of cars.

It's usually the scuttle drains that are blocked with leaves/debris.

Water is supposed to drain from the scuttle drains down through the wheel arches. If the drain holes are blocked the water level rises until it drains into the footwell via the heater intake.

Remove the scuttle panel (at the bottom of the windscreen) to investigate.

Try googling 'blocked scuttle drains' for plenty of info.

Best wishes,

H..
