Rear door mystery, help needed please

Featured Replies

Vehicle is a 2016 5 door 1.5L SOHC DI TC Diesel.

After bollard damage to the drivers side rear passenger door (my daughters car) I decided to change the door rather than have it repaired. I found a door and fitted it. Looked great but it would not lock. Also both front door power windows would not operate. I fitted the original damaged door back on and all worked again.

I was disappointed that the new door was faulty and found and fitted a second one. Yet again with the second (2012) new door the lock would not lock and the front windows would not work.

I again fitted the original damaged door and all was well again.

What am I doing wrong?

I assume they were complete doors?

You may need to swap the door module from your old door.

try changing the lock and window motor to the new door 👍

Yes they are complete doors. Crikey - I thought that this would be a simple 5 bolt swop. I don't want to swop things if I can help it as (like everything I do to her car) it would be done against the clock....

Can I fit the door and take the car to an adult to have the door programmed to car?

If you buy a door from the same year and spec it should be all compatible.  Trouble is you're trying to fit a pre-facelift door to a facelift model I think?  It's not something that could be programmed out.

I recall some friends of ours had similar problems with replacing a damaged door on their pfl and things had to be swapped. Other problem was the replacement door came from a car with privacy glass, which theirs didn't have, so that had to be swapped as well. Unfortunately they didn't notice until the door had been fitted and all the trim replaced, so it all had to come off again!

You might have to swap the wiring looms over too.
