Another Leaking Fiesta

Featured Replies

My Mk7.5 seems to have developed a bit of a leak resulting in a soaking wet drivers footwell. On investigation I noticed the back of the heater was dripping (red circle in the photo).

I also noticed the screw was loose so I tightened it up and that seems to have stopped that drip, however I also noticed there is a second drip from the bottom of the unit (blue circle).

Any ideas on what it could be? Seems like fresh water and after pouring water on the car it doesn't seem to make any difference.

Lastly when I was drying the carpet out (or at least removing the worst of the water) I noticed the rubber layer on the insulator seems to have cracked and is very brittle, presumably this can be ignored or fixed with a bit of Gorilla tape? I don't fancy ripping the dash out to replace the whole thing!

Heater matrix leaking ? Is the water hot when the engine has been running for a while ? I've never looked upon such a Fiesta matrix.

Seems to be ambient temperature and pooling on the foam then dropping down. I did wonder if it could be the heater especially due to the leak on the back which since tightening doesn't seem to have returned.

If the engine is red hot and the water is evident, feel the water, if it's from the cooling system it will be red hot, if it is remember your header tank will be going down gradually ?

It’s not coolant, it stays ambient regardless of engine temperature and water level is okay. I have taken the pollen filter out and it’s wet at the bottom which I presume it shouldn’t be.
