Turbo flutter problem on 1.0 Mk7.5

Featured Replies

Hi all,

So I've done a couple of modifications (primary, secondary and crossover pipe with a airtec cone filter)

I remapped the car to 160bhp via Revo and ever since then, the car will flutter when lifting my foot off the gas (slowly, not straight off) around the time the turbo kicks in.

from my understanding, this would be some sort of compressor surge and is actually bad for the turbo?

i believe this would mean that I would require a recirculation valve but I am unsure and have heard bad things about the turbosmart ones. Could someone guide me in the right direction?

thank you

The "flutter" you can hear is down to the airtec cone filter.

The car has a recirc valve as standard, but I'm now sure what the rating of it is (which is why people fit uprated ones).

Once you hear a turbo car that has no recirc valve or dump valve you'll realise your flutter is nothing compared to that. I'd be more worried about the synchros going on the gearbox if you're chasing any more power
