Ford Fiesta St3 (16 plate) low oil

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I have a four year old Ford Fiesta st3, I was driving the car and a rattling begun. On further inspection the bearings have worn to the crankshaft as there was no oil.. however there has never been any warning lights come up on my car. I took it to ford and they said my car isn’t fitted with a low oil engine light. I do not believe this and I am looking for advice from anyone who has had a similar problem, how to go about getting the best result as I feel this is a failure with the car but ford are playing hardball!! Thanks!

It's the owners responsibility to check the oil level regularly I'm afraid.  Same as tyres, lights, screenwash etc.

No, it doesn't come with an oil level sensor, just an oil pressure switch.

I would question where all the oil has gone though...assuming you've checked it at some point since buying it, it must have been burning instead?

When did you have the car last serviced (specifically oil and filter change) and was it with a ford dealer?
