Fiesta 1.0 ecoboost 100ps reliability

Featured Replies

Hey guys, I've recently been told that the 2015 ecoboost engine is just put of the high reliability zone compared to the 2016-17 ecoboost engines. I understand they are exactly the same engines but apparently ford have done something to the 2016-17 engines that help the engines reliability and allows them to take more power from mods or remapping. I was just wondering if anyone has any ideas on what parts were replaced/upgraded to make them more reliable or if not does anyone know of any way to make the 2015 ecoboost engine more reliable to take more power besides fully forging as I'm on a tight budget 😰

There was no major improvement that I'm aware of. The weak point of the 1.0L is still the gearbox, it isn't rated for much more than factory torque.

Remember it's a 1.0L, 3 cylinder engine that's already pretty stressed as it is. Unless you change the fundamentals of that then you're not going to make 200hp and still have the pistons inside the engine after a few years...

Possibly a one more temperature sensor to measure engine temperature to give better warning if engine is overheating. But this is just rumors so don't really know 🙂 My engine is manufactured on end of 2014 and it has some changes compared to the original 2013 version. One coolant pipe is fully rubber now and it used to be two rubber pipes with a metal pipe connecting them together in oldest Ecoboost version.

So yes , there might be some changes on the engine during its manufacturing years 2013-2017 (For Fiesta).

The metal temperature sensor is attatched to the cylinder head as an extra warning for overheating, obviously it was fitted since February 2015 on the fiesta as shown in the pictures

Nice, haven't seen a catalogue like that. How can I access it ? Would like to know a bit more about my engine and it's parts. Mine is manufactured just before Ford decided to add that sensor.

change the language to English 😁😁
Unfortunately the latest fiesta available on that catalog is the 2016 mk7 fiesta 🙂
