2019 Fiesta Active 125ps mpg problem

I have the above car in title, this morning I did a 30 mile journey a bit of town & country. All seemed normal on outward journey, on leaving destination I noticed the MPG Indicator on instrument panel acting weird, it was dropping mpg rapidly as low as 12 mpg then it would suddenly jump up to about 15-19 mpg then count down again. Rising and dropping mpg's, its usually steady at 33/35 mpg when driving locally.

The car is running fine otherwise, has anyone came across this problem before?

I have a 400 mile journey tomorrow (200each way) I'm hoping it is something I can do , can anyone advise please?

    You could have switched it over from the average mpg readout to the instantaneous readout. Or you may have just reset the average values and it will be variable for a bit until you have done a few more miles for it to accumulate enough data to get a rolling average.
