Fiesta (2018) electric window problem - help

Featured Replies

Hi All,

We are having problems with our electric windows, they have begun randomly opening on their own when the car engine is running, you dont even have had to have used the window.

For example, we were driving along at 60mph and all of a sudden the window fully opened, which was a shock and a big distraction.   Another time when parked up and about to turn off the ignition the window opened, and you then cant leave in a car park!

It is then really difficult to shut the open window, as your pull up on the switch, but the window doesnt move, and you just have to keep trying the switch and eventually it starts to come up slowly.

It has been in once to Ford, and all they did is grease the window runners, but this hasnt cured it.

So anybody got any suggestions please?

Thanks very much.

Nothing as simple as keys in pocket. If unlock button is held down for more than 10s windows open too.

Is it fitted with total closure / opening ?

It might be worth a try to disconnect the battery and go through the one touch opening and closure procedure to reset the windows.

your windows may be out of sync and bouncing back.

No need to disconnect battery.

Ignition on,

Wind windows (individually) all the way to the top.

Let go of button.

Hold button in "UP" position for a minimum of six seconds, you should see window jump up a little bit more.

Run window all the way down.

Let go of button.

Hold button in "DOWN" position for a minimum of six seconds.

Job done!

Repeat on all four windows

If that doesn't cure it then there is an issue with the Door modules and needs investigating

Hi, no, the keys are in the ignition, so no accidental pressing buttons.

And no, it hasnt got total open / close

Only front windows are electric.

I shall try your method @DaveT70, this weekend and see if this helps.  If not, then as you say, it needs further investigating, problem is though, its very intermittent.

Hey, @SgtAWilson did you ever get to the bottom of this? I have a fiesta with similarly weird and intermittent window problems, someone has already replaced the switch and door module but not cured it, is driving me crazy, thanks
