dog nails scratches !!

Featured Replies

hello to all 🙂

a street dog last night climbed over the car roof, causing nail scratches to the roof paint, the bonnet paint, and the windscreen 😞

any suggestions regarding paint damage ?

and what is more important , what can be done to the windscreen scratches ? any suggestion ? or I just have to live with it ? 😄

thank you very much 🙂

Sorry to hear that Ahmed.   Are the scratches deep or would they polish out with T-Cut?

Sorry to here that how deep are the scratches can they not be polished out. As for glass surprised thats damaged by dog claws. If its scratched new windscreen in uk if in areas stated by mot.

If you run your fingernail over scratches do you feel grooves. If not it will polish out - looking at photos you should be able to reduce 50% of the scratches with cutting compound for paint. Glass is a hard one some people say you can but most windscreen companies just replace as polishing causes refraction in glass. Also using polishing tools can create localized heat spots which can cause glass to crack unless a lot of water is used for lubrication/cooling.

Sorry to hear that mate, thats a nightmare

In my opinion there is nothing that can be done really if you can feel it with your nail.

Have you tried the chips away firm that will come to your house with all the gear, they did a key line some #### did to my car once, and have to say it was an outstanding repair

some you can feel and some are not , actually I'm worried more about the windscreen , insurance company won't replace the windscreen unless its broken , not just scratches , I don't know what to do 😞

I'm located in Egypt actually 😄 , I will try local shops here who are specialized in those kinds of paint work 🙂

That sucks, bet you where well pi$$ed off when you walked out and saw that.

Unless you can repair it, not much to do, only 2 options really

A. pay for replacement gunna run you a couple hundred though
B. "accidently" break the windscreen (don't if you've already spoke to them, that'd be super suspect) 😅

Don't know about you but there are adverts on tv here where a company will fill the crack or chip with a clear liquid, unsure on the name of it, might be worth looking into.

pi$$ed off only ? 😄 actually I was planning to commit the perfect crime against that dog 😄 , I didn't speak to the insurance guys yet , and actually I'm not intending to " accidently " break it 😄 ( you bad boy 😄 ) , and if I did I'm sure God will punish me with what is more depressing and I will not get away with it 😞 , we have a big automobile glass manufacturer here in Egypt who makes most windscreens to different car models made in Egypt, they are experts in auto glass, I will pay them a visit and see what we can do 🙂

needs to be bigger than a 5p for replacement in uk - springload centre punches are tools thieves use to break into cars.

I had a stone chip in my screen on shut down in march - could of been fixed but as i wasn't a key worker couldn't get it done for 3 weeks. If it was looked at that day it would of been a repair however there was a frost over night screen cracked. and run.

screen_LI.jpg

First screen fitted was a patented one useless didn't fit properly so i insisted on ford original screen which they did.

patented screen £200

ford original windscreen £500

That wet stuff is more expensive than petrol isn't it. 😁

With patented windscreen black trim and rubber strip below wipers don't fit properly 3mm gap passenger side. So got it changed.

update : I gave it a good wash with a waxing shampoo, 50 % of the scratches are now gone 😄 I forgot to mention that my car paint had been earlier treated with nano ceramic, may be it offered some protection !!
