have i got a filter missing?

Featured Replies

i come out to the car in the mornings and sometimes the dashboard is full of bits of old leaves

they are dry as can be and crumble as soon as i try to wipe them away so where have they come from?

is there a filter that's blocked somewhere or could it be that the cars been stood since february until i bought it a month ago?

it's really strange and most likely to be something obvious but it's got me thinking

any ideas folks?

thanks

Seems weird!  If the pollen filter was full of leaves, they might have dropped into the filter box when the filter was changed.  I doubt they'd have forgotten to refit the filter but it's possible.

Put the vents on windscreen only and max fan speed and see if leaves blow out...

I tried that the first time around and nothing

But the drivers side outer vent had leaves inside it, nothing after that though but it happens every few days

Could have been a Mouse nesting in the Ductwork at some time.

Do you park (home or work) near/under trees?

If so, are the leaves the same type?

no trees where i park, leaves are bone dry even when it's been raining

only seem to be coming from the drivers side right hand vent as you can see them sitting inside

You should check the pollen filter as soon as possible. If the pollen filter is not installed correctly leafs and other dirt can pass between the filter.

In most countries due to its efficiency the later 1.0 ECOboost versions are equipped with a PTC heater (additional electric heater). This system consists of an electric heater element inside the heater housing assembly. This electric heater element can become very hot and cause leafs to ignite. On a vehicle that is equipped with the PTC heater an incorrectly installed pollen filter can easily result in a safety hazard.

earlier today i removed the old filter to replace it with a new one, it was VERY heavy and very dirty

you tube has plenty of videos showing you how to struggle to get them in and out, but it took a few minutes and job jobbed

no leaves thus far but i did stick the nozzle of the hoover into the slot and give it a quick wiggle, ooh err mrs lol
