Hesitation at lower rpm

Featured Replies

Okay backstory time.

My partner recently bought a 1.0 eco boost and we soon discovered it had a coolant loss issue (shock) which was warrant an engine replacement by Ford under their good will scheme.

This was around a 4 week turn around which was annoying but understandable with COVID limitations. When we finally got the car back it drove well on the route home briefly before we noticed a huge amount of steam escaping from under the bonnet accompanied by a burning smell.

We were on a duel carriage way at the time and intended on stopping at earliest opportunity. Just before we got to the services the dash flashed up a warning to tell us we had to stop the car was over heating.

Once the car was cool enough to inspect the coolant we realised it was empty and soon noticed that the coolant hose had disconnected from the engine as it had not been properly attached. We had the AA come out to reattach as it was not something I could do by the side of the road.

The car returned to Ford the next day as we asked they fully inspected the car to satisfy it was firstly ok and secondly there was no other issues. We picked it up just before they closed and on the route home we first noticed horrendous hesitation upon both soft acceleration and harder acceleration. They were however closed now and we could not follow it up until the next day.

The next day they took the car back in and test drove it before applying a software update and handed it back. They said it was likely to be the part that applies both pressure into the turbo and breaks (forgot name) and that this was taken off our old engine so if it needs replacing it’s chargeable. However I’m not entirely convinced that this issue is not been caused by the boiling hot coolant that was dumped over the electrical housings around the turbo and I’d really appreciate any advice anyone can give.

Ford have been very helpful but I feel that they are approaching the point that they do not want to help us anymore.. But our car ran beautifully before and now it doesn’t so I feel that they are somewhat accountable.

If it is coincidental that this part has failed at this point and the car will run well again after it is swapped then I will happily pick one up from ECP and swap it. But if it’s location is close to where the coolant dumped than surely that’s suspect.

IDK if someone can advice I’d be happy, this is a very particular problem so I’m struggling to find the info online..

Thanks
