Fault 2002 Filter Below Threshold Bank 1

Featured Replies

I have a 2014 1.6l Focus with 102k miles on the clock. For months now I have been intermittently (every few days now and it used to be every few weeks) saying engine malfunction service now. The fault code is P2002 which is that the particulate filter is below the threshold (bank 1). I have had the DPF regenerated, the injector seals redone and gotten the DPF sensor checked and Ford have still not been able to solve the issue. I am throwing money at it and nothing is working. If I turn the car off and on again the warning goes away! Any thoughts or advice at all??

At 102k, the filter might be full of ash.  The cDPF on these lasts longer than the older additive type, but not forever, especially if it's spent any period of it's life only doing short journeys.  Ash can't be removed via regen, you have the choice of cutting open the DPF for a professional clean, or replacing the DPF with a new one.

The warning is probably only triggered when you load the engine enough to create a large pressure differential across the DPF.
