Featured Replies

Good morning so yesterday I picked up my new car which is a ford focus st line (nothing special)

What is annoying me is that I wish the focus emblem is in gloss black ..

Is there anyone out there who could help me find the focus emblem in black as I don't like the chrome effect..

Any help will.be greatful thank you Jason.

Most people just spray it black

Have done this to a few badges in the past. You can't be lazy with the process, it'll need a proper rubbing down with wet & dry, a coat of undercoat, gloss black, and if you're really fussy, a coat of lacquer.  If you try to shortcut any, it'll simply come off the first time you pressure wash you car - I speak from experience LOL Oh, if you are friendly with a local bodyshop (!), leave the badge with them and the next time they are spraying gloss black, they can add the badge to the job, and it'll even get properly done in an oven!

Or here's one ready cooked! (not the same as OE but no harm in being different)

The mk4 focus has them written like Volvo do in big spaced out letters under the rear windscreen.

Fortunately the ST doesn’t have them. I think I’d take the dental floss (and heat gun) to them if it was me.

Cheers Alex I will do that I reckon .

I have just brought gloss black wing mirror caps .

Cheers guys for your help but I have took it of and left it with my body shop .I just need to get some new sticky pads so the can stick again.

But the hardest bit about it is lining them back up straight again as there individual letters haha ..

Sticky pads are difficult to work with. You need some good quality 'black' 3M autobody tape. You then can use a scalpel to stick it on each letter, and trim carefully round to give a clean edge. As for getting it straight, a strip of masking tape should ensure that, and if you have access to another Focus with same lettering, you can simply mark off the OE spacing, or just create your own. Good idea to let the bodyshop do it, they can always get a great finish which I often find hard to do at home! (Maybe they can even put the appropriate body tape on it for you?)
