hi guys,

 

so just bought a ford focus 1.6 zetec auto for my mrs to learn in.... love the car the gear changes are so smooth!!! being only a 1.6 and the car being of a reasonable size i get fuel isnt going to be the best what does everyone else get to about £15 of petrol??

 

secondly does everyone's temp gauge sit just below half way ?

    The mk2 1.6L petrol Focus was never great on fuel. Add to that an auto gearbox and you're probably looking at less than 30mpg? You need to work in MPG, miles per £15 worth of petrol is no good, especially when some people pay less than £1.10 a litre and some pay £1.30 a litre.

    Just under the centre of the temp gauge is pretty normal.

    Not great on petrol at all! On a really long steady trip, I can scrape about 32Mpg, otherwise, 28Mpg is quite normal. The temp gauge sits here...

    On my 1.6 auto same spec as yours.....

    Commute to work 25 miles round trip. 90% in 30 MPH limit. Winter ~32MPG.

                                                                                                    Summer  ~34MPG.

    Weekend. Long journey 250 miles round trip.                                     ~39MPG.

    No boy racer antics from me, Just a stead plod there and back. All results from tank fill to tank fill.
