Focus MK2 ST225 Power Steering Issues

Featured Replies

Hello Everyone

In need of some advice if possible, I have a focus MK2 ST225, I will start from the beginning be a bit long winded but please bear with. The car was parked up for a while during lockdown 1st time round, i went to drive it a few weeks back and it drove fine till i parked at halfords then restarted it and drove down the road and lost all power steering and came up on the dash power steering malfunction. plugged my forscan in and came up with P0557 Brake booster pressure sensor low.

So I changed the brake boost sensor and finally thought it was fixed drove fine till i turned it off again then power steering went again, this time i have a code of U1900-60 Instrument Cluster Can Bus, I have changed the battery and the alternator is charging at 14.4v, i am now out of ideas as the power steering fails then i get the Instrument cluster code come up.

could this be the pump starting to give up?

if i was to get a pump for the facelift as i can not find a 2008 one or same part number does it need programming?

is there a pressure switch as found that reads low and where could it be?

could it be the instrument cluster at fault?

any advice would be appreciated

Quite possibly the common instrument cluster fault where you get dry solder joints. It's a simple enough fix if you have a soldering iron.
