What are these cables ???

Featured Replies

Hi guys. Yesterday i take out my OEM HU to prepare the installation af an Android HU and i have found two cables that i don't know exactly what they are and what is they purpose.

This 2 pics. are from the first one, the easy one, because i guess this is for the radio, no?

The second one (black with white strip) is a little bit interesting because he came from the fuse box and just hangs inside with the end isolated.

The cable end looks like some ISO pin or something, i don't know, but what function could have, do you guys know?

I tried to take a picture of the fuse box connection location (upper left), i hope it is visible and you know the position 🙂

Thank you in advance 🙂

The first one is an antenna connector. Probably used to be an old aftermarket DAB unit in there with a windscreen mount at a guess?

Sure looks like my windscreen DAB mount (which is just cr*p) replaced with a cheap MagMount which works great!)

Thank you guys. So the end of this cable is not at the factory antenna ? There is some other antenna at the end of this cable? Looks like it cames from the factory harness, maybe it was an option at the purchase?

That second connector looks like some type of piggy back item, but far too much exposed metal for a power line, maybe a speaker extension of some sort?

The speakers wires goes directly to the doors, no? This comes from the fuse box.

Factory fitted cables are usually just long enough to reach the point that they are intended to connect to. Your cable looks like it could be wrapped around the car twice to keep the doors shut, Ford won't have wasted money on spare cable like that.

Ohhh, so Ford is not so kind to prepare an option and just leave the cable there for later use 😄 I will try to investigate the other end where is located.

It's my first Ford, so i don't know too much of how they used to do and prepare later options. Thank god Cruise Control is prepared 😄

The second wire has come out the fuse box, that looks like the terminal one side of the twin blades fuse would push in

That's what i thought also and i measured, but there was no power at all. I tried in the ACC and ON positions, but nothing...

No Ford do not use SMB connectors like I said above. They only use FAKRA connectors
