Been told my 57 focus may need an oil pump replacement as its not keeping any oil inside the engine,the breathers have been checked and a new part fitted,the oil filter housing has been checked and is fine the car had 2 oil filters on it and each time as soon as the engine starts there is a hissing sound from the passenger side of the engine and all the oil empties out the car.

 

So my question is has anyone else had this same problem is it an oil pump replacement and how much would that cost including labour 

 

Or is it a different issue would it be worth getting it fixed as the car only cost £600

If oil is coming out externally either there a hole or some seriously wrong - I expect they tampered with it and broke something

 

AN ISSUE THEY DO SUFFER FROM IS A DESTROYED SPRING ON THE REMOTLEY ACCESIBLE OIL PRESSURE RELIF VALVE

MINE CRUMBLED TO NOTHING ....   AND I PAID ***** LOAD FOR A NEW PUMP AND TO GET IT FITTED

£800 QUID VS 20 Mins AND 10p FOR A SPRING

DON'T ASK WHERE YOU GET THE SPRING - I DID THE EXPENSIVE WAY
(BUT I WILL POINT OUT THE ONE IN FREE A BIRO IS MUCH HIGHER QUALITY   -   dtf !!!!!   )
