Rear demister issue

Featured Replies

Firstly happy new year to you all.

Secondly, my rear demister stopped working recently. The light comes on but nothing works. On Christmas day I put my mother's wheelchair in the boot and drove about, I only noticed after that the handle had scratched a 5p coin sized hole in the aftermarket tint, just over part of the heater element. I've inspected the element and it doesn't look marked or anything. I'm wondering if the tint had any capacitive properties which now won't allow the elements to heat up, or whether I couldn't visually see damage but it actually is.

I haven't checked the fuses yet.

The tint on mines has a couple of chibs out of it and the elements still work OK just hope the chair has not broke the element 🤞 possibly when it did hit it could of blown the fuse.

I'll check the fuses. I've inspected for damage to the element but can't see it. I can repair it as I have some conductive paint.

Oh and happy new year also check the wiring in the rubber tube where the boot opens if they still do it on that version as wires tend to get snapped in there and also the connector under the plastic cover under the window.

Yeah there's a rubber pipe there. No idea how I'd check in there though. Where abouts is the connector? Lower window or side?

There is supposed to be a plastic trim around the window you can find it in there. The wiring part in the hatch it's just rubber covers but would leave that as the last resort.
