Hi all. I own a 2012 Mk3 focus estate which is perfect for me and my family. The only thing I miss, which I had in previous cars is cruise control. Has anyone ever had this retrofitted by a ford dealer? Is it even possible or plausible? If so we're there any issues with insurance and what was the rough cost?

Ford won't go near it.

Retrofitting is more of a DIY job as you'll struggle to find a company willing to take on this work (costs them money and gives them a bad rep if it doesn't work).

There's a guide here on how to do it.

There's probably several more on the forum asking various questions so have a search (use Google with "site:www.fordownersclub.com" at the end of your search query. The search on the forum sucks imo).

I retro fitted cruise control to my 2014 focus estate using the guide on here and Google.

I purchased a steering wheel off ebay with the cruise control/speed limiter switch attached fir around £40, then I required an extra loom for my car which was about £15 off ebay too. Youll also need an old device to connect to a laptop and forscan software. If that's not the correct software someone will correct me as it was a while ago I did it. But when it's done it's great👍

In terms of insurance, I declared retrofitted Sat Nav, Cruise Control & Floor Mats (I know) to be on the safe side.

They were only interested in the Sat Nav and said it might push it up a couple of quid on my next renewal but wont be much at all.
