Airbag Warning light randomly showing up

Featured Replies

Hi Guys, wondering if you guys have had any experience with this issue/weirdness before. Basically a couple weeks ago as I started the car up in the freezing cold, the airbag warning light came on and wouldnt go away. I did an entire drive to Asda and back and it was on the whole time, the next day it went away and its been fine since. Today it happened again so I got the OBD reader out and have this fault showing up:

Code: U2017 - Side Crash Sensor Mount/Communication Fault, Front Driver side

Status:
 - Previously Set DTC - Not Present at Time of Request
 - Malfunction Indicator Lamp is Off for this DTC

Module: Restraint Control Module

Diagnostic Trouble Code details

Side Crash Sensor Communications Fault (Driver's)

Refer to the workshop manual for further diagnosis and repair.

Any clues on what this could be?

Cheers

My car is a Ford Focus 2009 1.6 Petrol
