Engine management message on screen and i symbol

Featured Replies

Hello,

I have a Ford Focus zetec 1.6 09 .  As I was driving the engine management message came up and the red i symbol . It then went into limp mode. Soon as I restarted the car it went back to normal and drove fine until I drive around 8 miles and it comes on again. The first time I had it checked it was fuel injector , I left the garage after fixing and 8miles down the road it came back up . Next diagnostic said a valve so had that repaired , as I drove away about 8miles it came back up saying engine management and the red i symbol again. Every time I drive it feels fine and the turbo seems fine until around 8miles engine message on screen and limp mode kicks in so I restart the car and it’s fine again. Iv now taken it to garage AGAIN! And this time diagnostic says turbo boost pressure . I’m very confused now. I’m having this constant same problem with the engine management message  no matter what I get fixed and the garage keeps tellin me something new needs fixing every time I go back . How can there be a new problem each time . This has all happened within the past 2 months. Should I seek another garage for advice . Or can there really be a new problem each time ? My car feels fine to drive until this message comes on and limp mode kicks in.
thank you in advance for any advance It’s much appreciated .

Hi,

Sorry, I didn't see this thread earlier.  (It is technically in the wrong section which might explain the lack of replies lol)

You need to have the codes read by a Ford specific code reader.  I suspect they've only been using generic readers so far, which can't pick up all the codes.

On this particular engine, it's likely to be caused by faulty glow plugs, or an empty Eolys additive tank (for DPF fluid).  Neither of those things will show up on a generic code reader though.
