2013 1.0 ecoboost Coolant issue new engine at 28k mileage

Featured Replies

Hiya,

Just dropped my car off for major service and mot at main dealer, over last month ive noticed the coolant would be always empty and topping it up often, mentioned this to dealers, they've just rang me up and said it needs a new engine which they will cover the full costs and fit it as long as i sign this disclaimer form saying this is full and final settlement and they are no long responsible after its been fitted for this engine or any future issues with it.

Firstly i don't get why i'm been hassled and i mean hassled, 3 calls and 2 emails asking if i've printed it off and sign it and returned it to them, yes i chuffed they are covering bill for new engine but why this disclaimer letter and why am i been hassled, is there something i dont know about. The car is worth maybe now 5.5k 6k on a good day, very low mileage and paint work is crisp, been looked after

Any info gratefully recieved

Is it at a Ford Main Dealer

Have you had it from new

I can explain why they are asking for a disclaimer, but it is a bit unusual in my opinion

Its because there is a known issue with the coolant leaking. This causes the engine to blow up. Check out the "ecoboom" facebook page for some extra advice. They will replace the egine but after that they wont want to know (if it happens again). Alot of people get the job done and then get shot of the car as it is a massive issue.

Yes, Guy is absolutely correct. The 1 litre ecoboost is NOT a problem engine, but there were lots of failures, and owners had to pay for them, until Ford did a turn around.

The problem was a coolant hose failure causing the engine to fail. It wont happen again if the later/correct hose is fitted

Once the mod hose is fitted there is no need to sell the car

If you are being asked to sign a disclaimer it is because the warranty does not "continue" from when the replacement engine is fitted

Forget ***** Facebook crap. look on the TalkFord Forum Menu's, here is one link https://talkford.com/community/topic/387809-ford-and-ecoboost-engines/

Yep....you just need the 2 degas hoses for the Mk3.5 fitting instead of the MK 3 ones....if you ask nicely they may do it for you when fitting the new engine ?? If not, then it is a really easy job to change them afterwards and only costs around £52 for the pair.
