Cup Holder Cover (Slider) mk4 focus

Featured Replies

Mk4 focus:

Does anyone else's top slider cover on the cup holders go back so far as 3 or 4 lines showing then require a bit of force to get it back all the way or is it suppose to go back naturally no force?

That's as far back as it goes which is fine. But before it gets to that position it stops maybe 30mm from it and requires some force (not loads) to get it back to that position.

I checked mine today and it slides right back to one groove showing with the same amount of force and no sticking points, but that amount of force is quite a lot, not as slick as I would expect it to be.

Check ours today and it works fine as it should. Not like yours is in the video.

Perhaps there's a tiny bit of grit in the runner causing it to stick ?

I'd be tempted to put a very small bit of WD40 on to a lint free cloth or even a cotton bud and try to get some fed into the runner and see if it eases the retractable cover a bit better.

Thanks for checking..I've sprayed some polish in on the runners since the video and it's made it more smooth. Still gets stuck at the end a bit. It's not a major issue for me, just don't want to break it haha!

No problem. I needed something to take away the pain of going for an eye test and coming out £320 lighter 😮

Ouch. I also assume its a full centre console removal to access that cup holder cover; i think the dealer would laugh me out of there for complaining!
