Ford Focus 2007 wont start has a new battery

Featured Replies

My car started playing up it would start one day then not another day and now it wont start at all.  We have replaced the battery and had the dashboard sent off to be repaired it came back and the car still will not start.  There is power to the lights, windows and radio just not the dashboard.  If anyone has any tips or suggestions that would be very helpful??

Thank you

Have you ever had the car start with it's new battery?

Has the car started at all since you fitted the newly repaired instrument cluster?

Does the engine crank over (sounds like it wants to start) or is it dead?

the car started for a day when we had the cluster back and the next morning wouldn't start again and no the car has not started at all since the new battery which we only got yesterday its charged and has the correct volts. there is a sound and a click thats all and then nothing?

Well, if the car started with the newly repaired cluster, that would lead me to believe that it is working as planned.

On replacing the battery, and it now not working, leads me to think it is a battery issue. On fitting the battery, if one of the wires was corroded, you may have just stressed the wiring enough to give up. You could try a simple 'wiggle' test with the connectors just to make sure everything is tightened as it should be. Another reason for a 'click' is a faulty starter motor, but as it started OK with your old battery, I would for now discount that.

My opinion is some dodgy 14 year old wiring, a relatively cheap and easy repair for an auto spark, but I'm sure you'll get another opinion soon.  Good luck with it and welcome to the forum. 😀

thank you we only changed the battery because it stopped working. we took the battery out and charged it but wasn't holding charge so we thought the battery might be the problem.  it was playing up for a week start stop start then completely stopped had rac come out and look at it and was him the suggested the cluster being the problem so we got that sent off and repaired.

thank you for your help i will literally try anything at this current moment oh and also the code reader is not showing any faults either?

sounds like fuse  wouldnt hurt to check the ones in the footwell think its a 10amp look in the handbook will tell you the location (107 on the petrol ?) the damp weather causes them to oxidize sometimes you get lucky and they just need a clean  .. fingers crossed

Check if voltage is getting to the starter motor when you crank the engine

Check BCM for water ingress and corroded board
