Engine management light

Hi,  I have a 56 ford focus, engine management light suddenly appeared with an occasional transmission malfunction error and engine system fault,  self diagnostic showed no codes and neither can the mobile mechanic on 2 different machines pick up any codes, car runs fine,  changes gear seems no different to normal but if the lights start flashing on the dash it won't restart until after a few hours,  mechanic changed the relay? Switch which worked for a short while but the EML now back on but starts and runs fine,  thanks in advance,  Alison

    There's about a dozen relays that all do different things lol.

    Unfortunately your description of your issue is very vague and sounds like the majority of car breakdowns...
