Mk4 Focus - Vignale - Rattles 'r' Us

Hi all!

So Ford ended up having my vehicle for 2 MONTHS. I picked it up about a week ago - No Bueno.

Admittedly, the drivers door doesn't rattle as much as it used to. Im now able to turn the radio above 10 to mask all the other rattles in the vehicle.

But as I put more miles on it, the rattles are returning with a vengeance, the glovebox buzz is back, the rear left tweeter crackles and pops at every opportunity, the armrest squeaks if you even threaten to use is as an armrest and the ski hatch refuses to stay up. In a £30k car with 7000 miles that ford themselves market as a 'refined and indulgent premium option'.

So that's me signing off on my last vehicle from Ford. I am currently going through the motions to attempt to complain & reject the vehicle from Ford Credit. My Mrs' £6k Citroen C1 with 50k miles on is better built than any of the mk4 focuses that Ford are kicking out at the moment.

The more you take apart, the more rattles you'll get.  Sometimes it's best just to put up with one to save making 3 more...

I must say though, my Active Vignale doesn't have any rattles, and I'm easily irritable!

However it's a long way from premium or luxury...they should have hired a German luxo barge to see what refinement is really like.  To me the Vignale is a ***** rolled in glitter...sone nice things on top, but underneath it's still very obviously just a Ford.

You're not wrong! I think the car is genuinely good looking; a brilliant idea, horrendously undertaken. If it was marketed as simply 'a titanium with frilly bits', I could have accepted it as okay, but with the big premium 'vignale experience', I expected more.

Christ, my dealership has an entirely separate stand for vignale spec motors, with big lights, screens and faux aluminium floor to really give you that feeling of 'why bother with a VW'.

Ah well, they made money out of me for 9 years anyway, they'll only be laughing to the bank! Looks like my finance was mis-sold too, so do yourselves a favour and check what mileage has been specified on your agreements,  because mine is a hop, skip and jump away from what I asked for.

So.. What happened.

Ngl I bought a car 2nd hand previous owner obviously went over a kerb at speed or pothole. Could tell by the undercarriage hanging off and bad scrapes. I thought it was the service manual in the glove box 😂 on test drive.  and my dash was clicking very hard on and off every 10 seconds or when the vehicle flexed. Was the airbag housing clicking something snapped and the bolts were loose. Pretty much inaccessible without removing dash so unfixable. 1 bolt was covered by the ventilation system. And a tingy rattle when accelerating maybe it was the airbag housing . Car was trash solely due to rattles. Drivers fault tho

I’m having the same issue with my 2022 vignale, both doors, however, Fords fix is to blame the owner for having the stereo bass and volume too loud - absurd customer service, having owned Mercedes and Lexus in the past, both with premium stereo systems, neither had a rattle. In most cars when you buy a premium system you can use the full range of the stereo, but not in a Ford!!

  • 3 months later...

Have to say my 2023 Vignale sounds very good and the car feels solid even with the bass turned up.

However I do have an annoying rattle from the centre of the dash area, sounds like small screws in a tin. Only notice it on rough roads.
