Android headunit wiring

Featured Replies

Hi

im wondering if anyone here has fitted one of the tesla style headunits in a mk3 focus I removed the old unit and fitted the new one got it working but the back of my original headunit only had one big black connector and 2 Ariel connections.

Where my issue is I've watched many videos on this and everybody else's original headunits had 2 big black block connectors but mine only had one now I can't seem to get my steering wheel controls to work any idea why I only have one block connector instead of 2?

thanks for the help in advance

You will need an adapter like connects2 to get the steering wheel controls working

I was having a look at them but I don't seem to have anymore connections in the actual car harness to connect it to?

You connect the connects 2 to the quadlock and the other connections to the back of the stereo

Got it perfect I'll give that a go thanks 👍🏼

On the original audio system the SWC (Steering Wheel Control) signal is connected to Pin 7 and Pin 10 of the FCDIM (display) and communicated further to the ACM and Bluetooth/Voicecontrol or SYNC module by CANbus communication.

You need to make sure that the connector that was originally connected to the FCDIM is now connected to the new aftermarket Android radio. If this connector is connected to the new Android radio the SWC functionality should work. If the connector is connected and the SWC functionality does not work the aftermarket Android radio itself will most likely be the cause of the problem. Also note that on most aftermarket Android radio's the SWC needs to be configured/defined in the factory settings of the radio.

On some aftermarket Android radio's the SWC wires need to be cut and physically connected to the SWC input of the radio. The Ford SWC is just a basic resistance circuit (every button has its own resistance value). This basic type of SWC circuit is supported by 99% of all aftermarket Chinese Android radio's.

Did you manage to get this sorted? Which one and where did you get your radio from?  I have been thinking about these for a while but nervous about how good they are.

Yeah I managed to get it all sorted it was me missing the wiring to the canbus box that came with it I'd definitely recommend it but do get the 2gb ram version there is next to no boot time! Only thing I did change was I took the gps out from under the dash and ran it to the top of the windscreen as well t dropped out a couple of times under the dash.

I think I'm also missing the same one that you were. Was this the black block connector you were missing? I also only had one in the back of the CD unit and I've dug deep into the dash and can't find anything that will fit it. If so, did you have to buy some adapter to get it working? Thanks

Hi sorry never got a email to say there was a reply. I ended up not having to use that block connector from the harness that came with the headunit. It was the blue canbus connector I had wrong

Hello everyone

I seem to have a similar problem for my mk3 2014 ecoboost. I got the Boison Android 4gb 64gb 64bit with HIWORLD  blue canbus. Not using camera or external mic so just basic plug and play however the SWC are not recognised. I contacted supplier who instructed to set the protocol to Hiworld then chose my model but my car is not listed, I have went through all the fords on the Hiworld setting but still no controls on wheel. Everything else works on the system, WiFi, Bluetooth, Gps Maps, radio etc. Is there software available to get my model listed on the protocol or something to get it recognised? Garry 002, you said you had wired up the blue canbus wrong, could you elaborate a little more to what was wrong with you connections? Anyone any idea on how to diagnose the problem.

I would really appreciate any help.

Thank you everyone
