Engine oil pressure low warning

Featured Replies

Hi,

I’ve just bought a Ford Fiesta titanium  2018 1.5 diesel a couple weeks ago and yesterday the engine oil pressure low warning came on my dashboard, I turned the car off and checked  the oil and it was fine, about 20 minutes later I started the car up again and the warning had gone and the car was fine, this morning the same thing happened again, has anyone got any idea what it could be, it would be much appreciated

Micael

Before having a major panic I would recomend a full oil and filter change. Use the good quality oil. Did you buy the car from a dealer ?

Thanks and yes I bought it from a Ford Dealership

I think that I'd be on my way back the Ford main dealer and let them sort it. You will have at least a 90 day waranty

Yes its a 1.5 diesel. I had a oil and filter change in December so just hoping something need tightening.

If the problem is just a slight oil leak then it is possible that the drain plug washer was reused instead of a new one been fitted, or it could be simply the oil filter just needs tightened up.

If you are still getting the low oil pressure problem that is quiet concerning, and not common on the 1.5 diesel.

This washer was changed on oil change as the technican showed me me the previous 1 as this was damaged.

I havent had the low pressure warning on sincecthe oil change in december. Its just the amount of oil that leaked today and im worried about driving it to the garage. I have checked the dipstick and its on maximum

I have the same problem with my 2017 1.5tdci. Went back to Ford twice in 2020, who just said they "fixed it under warrenty " but we're not forthcoming with the cause. Happened a few times since, most recently today. The car inly has 15k on the clock, main dealer serviced ( last time at 14k ) and no oil leaks. The last 2 AA men to look at it both suspected a software issue, but Im open to other ideas especially now its out of warrenty.

Hi Micael,

Did you ever end up figuring out what the issue was? I'm interested as we've had the same situation with our 1.5 TDCi Ecosport. Only seen the message pop up once on start up 3 days ago and now it's disappeared.

Same ploblem and full rebuild engine pistons and rings and oil pumps .changed everything.if i dont use the car for a few days it show up the message and u cant even read it .its so quick 😭

Had this issue myself once with low oil pressure light but never did again I read somewhere about the oil might have been an issue 0/30 or5/30 on a cold start

I also still have this issue on cold starts with my Ford Fiesta 1.5 TDCi, and I still can't figure out where it came from. I've had this problem since I did an oil change using Castrol 5W30 as recommended by the manufacturer, along with a Bosch oil filter.
