Ford fiesta 1.0 ecoboost over fueling

Featured Replies

Hi, I have a 2013 ford fiesta 1.0 ecoboost and I got a code p2188, which states system to rich at idle bank 1, I have changed spark plugs, air filter and lambda sensor. When I start my car in the morning I can smell petrol which I believe means it's over fueling also at 1500 rpm my exhaust pops ?? Any help would be appreciated

Ever get it sorted?

I have similar issue on a ecoboost engine. I did clone ecu and have wondered if I did a bad clone of the original or if there is something else at fault. I've done 1 coil, 1 injector and plugs so far.

Hi pal sorry for late reply, no I've still got the same problem

From having a read after a google search -

It could be an air leak after the MAF sensor worth checking that the air filter has been fitted in correctly and that the cover is evenly clamped down on to the air filter sealing edge.

I’m having these issues myself! Injectors, sparks, lambda sensor has been changed. Took it to a Ford specialist, they saw it has full spark. I’m mind boggled of what it could be. I’m now attempting to change HP fuel pump. If you get to the bottom of it please let me know what it was!

Hi, let me know if that fixes it thank you

Hello guys,

same issue on my Ford B-Max Ecoboost 1.0 100cv. I've replaced sparks, MAF sensor, air filter(done in ford), an engine flush and new engine oil.

I suppose there are leaks and some related air loss.

Do you have any update? Fixed?

Best regards from Italy

Well you won't have the problem with your ecoboost engine for long. In fact you now wont have your engine for very long.

Under no circumstances should the engine oil be flushed on an engine with 'wet belts'

I saw on another post that the guy was having the same issues as what we have both described, he replaced all sensors and nothing! But he replaced the high pressure fuel pump and it cured his issue, so I will order a new fuel pump and update once fitted.

I have had P2188 for a while and have changed both O2 sensors, MAF sensor, spark plugs, airfilter, catalytic converter, I had the engine cleaned by a company called Carbon B Gone.

Recently been told by a garage that the vacuum pump is not holding vacuum, I found a bladder was missing on a small fitting on the side of the vacuum pump...I replaced this and  it took the engine management light away for about a week...and now it has returned again!! I am fuming and absolutely sick of this car now.
