Where is the adaptive cruise control sensor on my mk3 focus titanium X TDCI 61 plate

Featured Replies

Hi, all I'm new here and looking for some help/advice, I'm trying to locate my adaptive cruise control sensor on my mk3 focus titanium X TDCI it's not in the bumper and apparently its in the wind screen can anyone confirm this? Also can anyone provide the part number please as I need to replace it but can't find the part number. Thanks in advance

Are you sure it's got adaptive cruise?

I had a 2012 Mk3 Titanium X and that just had regular cruise.

It was part of the optional driver assist pack and fairly uncommon on the Mk3.  Came with lane guidance, active city stop and traffic sign recognition.  Easy to spot as it has the massive 4-hole windscreen sensor setup.

@TomsFocus thanks for the info, I finally found the part number but ford say that it no longer exists as they believe that the number changed for the sensor but refused to tell me what the new part number is so I can't scout for the sensor on ebay or scrappers sites

Hmm, might be worth trying another Ford dealer.

Maybe it's worth giving it a go, thanks again

The sensor is here show by the circle below the number plate.

That’s a facelift or mk3.5 which started in 2014. OP has a 2012 mk3.

The part number will still be valid if your looking for a used part. There will be many salvage recovery firms that will list the sensor by the original number

Yes, I realised that it's a mk3.5 in the photo shortly after posting.

However the Mk3 ACC uses a similar radar unit, which will most definately be in the front somewhere.

Update... After taking it to 2 separate specialists, it has been confirmed that the sensor is indeed on the windscreen just behind the rear view mirror, and apparently it needs replacing because they tried to calibrate it and that didn't fix the problem so it definitely needs replacing and as for the part I managed to find someone who said that the part number changed due to an update on the module and I now have the part on order, hopefully it will resolve my issue, Thank you all for your help it's very much appreciate

Adaptive cruise radars need clear line of sight, they are never windscreen mounted because the signal can’t pass through the glass. All the modern cars either have it hidden in a big flat badge or behind a blanked off section of the grill.

The windscreen sensors are cameras, lidar, rain etc. For traffic signs, active city stop, lane keeping etc.

If Ford have enabled it with the windscreen sensors it must be some sort of Frankenstein guess work from the lidar.

Edit: At least you can get it sorted now. Although I’d have expected an issue with that module to impact other features on the car too.

Hi Sean, pleased you are getting it sorted. Could you please post the new Ford part number so that if any other member is looking for it they know what it is, thanks.

Ok so I'm honestly say my wit's end. I have this MK3.5 and cannot find a grille with the space for the radar anywhere, and have no part numbers. I'm looking to retrofit adaptive cruise control from standard crusise control but mainly for lane keeping (not lane assist, it already has that). Any help would be huge!!
