Aircon issue after Service and regass

Featured Replies

Hi

My wife's 61 plate fiesta 1.2l fiesta was due its 2 year aircon service so I thought pop it into local Ford dealership for a service and antibacterial fog

Well after getting it back it feels less cold than it was before it went in, so they had it back in 3 days later and state that no leaks been found and all secure and working

They said that the regass is controlled by the equipment so cannot under fill

I'm at a loss as its not teeth chattering cold

I sat idling with temp probe in vent and at 24c outside it was reading 12c I then put onto speed 1 and showed 8.7c

The radiator fan comes on as soon as you put the Aircon on and goes off not too long after switched off, not sure if this is right?

Any ideas or is slightly cool the new normal

What temp should I be reading in idle at blower set at 1 etc?

Thanks

So after contacting an independent Air con service guy he says I Should be getting better temperatures than I'm getting, and soubds like it's undergassed

He's coming to me at home in three weeks weekend, and will write down his findings, so I can complain to Ford and push for a refund

Another reason to stear clear of dealerships

My local Ford dealer offered me an aircon regas for £30 I politely declined.  If it ain't broke don't try and fix it.  Saying that I might get a thermometer and see what temp I'm getting.

That seems good to me. What temprature would you like it to be?

Most cars with full climate control have the lowest setting as 16C which is cold enough to be sitting in.

Just measured mine at the face vents on fan speed 1 and it's 8.3 degrees C................outdoor temperature was 21C. If I turn up the fan the air is less cold. It's a 2017 model and the air con feels the same as when I bought it new four years ago.

What you describe with the radiator fan is correct. It'll start with the air con but will remain on for a short time after you switch it off again.

Seems colder when cool outside which is to be expected but when outside is warm it feels just cool air as you drive

The same car has left us blooming cold and shivery in the past so something is not quite right, and compared to our other fiesta it's chalk and cheese

Will report back after aircon specialist has attended and temp readings

So I had the air con checked and the guy said that the gas was light and on checking immediately spotted the condenser was leaking.

In his words it was obvious even without a UV light and should of been spotted by Ford, whom said it was all fine

I have emailed them for comment and requested a refund as not happy with their service

Won't be using Ford for anything else in the future

Can't even trust a Ford Dealership, lets hope you get somewhere in a refund and don't back down, your car has been leaking gases known to destroy the ozone layer.

I think the general moral of this story is NEVER to use Ford unless its a free service. Extortionate prices and god awful service. Current is my first ever with aircon, had it checked serviced and regassed by Euromaster on a Groupon offer for £39, couldnt fault them the machine did it all then provided a printout of what it had done. I get just under 5 degrees at the dash vent, and did a antibac myself took 20 minutes with a can of stuff from my local motor factors £2.99. The same stuff most places use and charge a tenner for. I did read somewhere that temp can be affected by the gas used, cant really see it myself.

Cheers

Had to go MD route but got rectified fast

Sorting refund out for me so at least that's sorted
