Window Switch / Switches have Cracked and Broken on a 2018 Fiesta.

Featured Replies

The switches on the drivers side have cracked on my 2018 Fiesta. One switch has bits broken off it and the other has a hairline crack.  I've seen this issue on the Ford Focus forum, so it seems be a manufacturing fault.  I have an extended 5 year warranty so hopefully it will be covered. If anyone else has this issue, please post some pics so we can show them to our Ford Dealers.

IMO this kind of thing should be covered by the warranty, It's certainly not wear and tear. I'll report back once they have had a look at it next week.

I've also had an issue with the window mechanism. The drivers side window kept getting stuck. They replaced it under the warranty.

Who is the warranty with?

Whoever it is with I doubt they will cover the replacement of the switch unit as i think they will more than likely say that something has been dropped on them causing the damage.

Before reading what had been written, my first thought was impact damage.

The window mechanism should have been replaced by the warranty and was rightly done so.

Good luck.

These are really common on fiesta and Focus so hopefully it shouldn't be too hard to get it done under warranty, I've replaced loads under warranty with no issues

Update on the cracked window switches. After a bit of confusion about what type of warranty I had, they have now been replaced under warranty. 😃

Initially my local Ford Dealer seemed doubtful that it would be covered. They thought I had a Ford Protect warranty (because my warranty certificate says Ford Protect on it).

So I rang the Ford Dealer where I had bought the car from. He seemed a bit confused about it as well, but eventually ascertained that it was not a Ford Protect

I had bought the 2 year extended warranty when I ordered the brand new car. So I guess it's an extended base warranty?

Why it's got Ford Protect all over the certificate is anyones guess. I wasted half a day sorting it out and I'm still not entirely sure what sort of warranty it is. 😤

If you've bought the 2 year extension then you are correct in saying it's basically 5 year base although a a few things are no longer covered, I think the battery may be one of them but not sure without looking 🤔

If anyone's interested here's the exclusions, your window switch is a bit of a vague area, is it classed as trim or electrical as trim isn't covered on the 2 additional years 🤔

happened to me and Ford dealer here in Egypt replaced the whole set under warranty, they also informed me that the new buttons are of a different updated part number.
