who is a good manufacturer of 4d gel numberplates im thinking 3mm hight i dont really want any higher and im guessing the zetec s 1.6 2012 is standard numberplate size?

and must be mot/road legal! thanx

I keep seeing these plates, why are they so popular compared to smooth Perspex plates? I thought raised digit plates are only legal on cars over a certain age. I don’t know why that is so.

Or does the age limit only apply to raised digit pressed metal plates? The more you read on number plate rules the more confusing it seems.

Raised letters are fine.  You can't use black and white plates on modern cars though.

There is a new British standard regarding plates this year, and some police officers have read into it that you can no longer use 3d and 4d plates...however there is no actual wording to that effect in it!

Would I risk new ones myself now?  Probably not.  If you are buying new ones, just make sure they're stamped with the new BS number so they're MOT passable...whether or not they're legal will be a grey area.

You're confusing the two different types of plate.  4D and Gel aren't the same.

My understanding is that 4D plates will still be legal, whilst gel plates won't with the updated BS identification.  Gel plates are supposedly still going to be legal with older BS identification markings.

 I think the grey area comes because whilst they aren't technically legal currently, they aren't illegal either - provided they're correctly spaced of course.  Any new ruling "shouldn't" be applied retrospectively, only from the date it becomes law. 

I think if you've got gel plates with older BS markings you should be OK, I hope so since the carbon gel plate on the back of my Impreza has been fitted since 2007/08 ish and I really can't be bothered to change it. 😂

none of of those plates have the mot/company number codes on them and they dont ask for proof of registration. so im guessing not legal

Son blew off a letter with his jet wash!! My advice is to *NEVER* let a powerful water jet go anywhere near these types of plates.

which seller and are the letters stuck on properly lol and did you drill them on or use the sticky tape stuff?
