Car storage

Featured Replies

So end of September the car will be going into storage so wheels off and the car will be left on axle stands, this time around there is no power to the unit so i will be removing the battery, the car will be in there till mid June so my question is I wont loose memory to the keys or anything like that will I ?

Do you need to disconnect the battery? Why not fully charge the battery before placing in to storage then attach a small solar charger to it to prevent discharge. to answer your question key setting should be fine as this data isn't kept in keep alive memory. Before placing in to storage make sure you're running on E0 or drain the fuel system to prevent damage

Cheers i have tried the the solar chargers many moons ago when I had the rs in storage it helped a bit but the outcome was the same it just died, I will make sure the fuel is removed,I wonder if the solar chargers are a bit better nowadays 🤔

solar chargers are getting better and cheaper. the car will go into ultra low power mode after a couple of weeks wich does things like disable remote unlocking and switching the alarm off so only a very small amount of power is needed to keep the battery charged.

Why do you take the wheels off if it standing on Axel stands?

I've never stored a vehicle for more than a month so never needed to do anything.

Solar battery chargers come in lots of different power ratings so you need a decent sized supply to keep everything alive and working.

harder to steal with no wheels on it lol, i also spray wd40 in black bags and wrap each corner, if the c max holds out i might leave it in the unit for the year
