Rough idle with no DTCs and unusual injector swapping results!

Featured Replies

I have a Ford Fiesta 2007 1.6 TDCI (64k) which has a rough/lumpy idle. There are no DTCs.

I tried unplugging injectors and moving them around with some unusual results. In my notes, the order for the injectors is 4321 (left to right standing at the front of the engine).

4 - When unplugged, rougher
3 - When unplugged, stalls
2 - When unplugged, no difference
1 - When unplugged, rougher

I then moved injector 2 from cylinder 2 into cylinder 4. I experienced the below results:

4 - When unplugged, rougher
3 - When unplugged, stalls
2 - When unplugged, stalls
1 - When unplugged, stalls

I then moved injector 2 from cylinder 4 into cylinder 3. I experienced the below results:

4 - When unplugged, rougher
3 - When unplugged, stalls
2 - When unplugged, rougher
1 - When unplugged, stalls

Can anyone offer any insight into what these results suggest…? I am finding them very unusual. Thanks in advance.

Did you use Forscan to re-code the injectors each time you moved them ?

So if you put them back in the original position do you get the original results or has it mended itself as it was a dodgy connector?
