RPM Problem

Featured Replies

Yesterday I slowed down from high speed to stop in traffic and all of a sudden the engine kept revving and the RPM Gauge red lined. It's a 10 plate Fiesta titanium and an automatic with this being the first time it's happened.

Has anyone else had the same Issue?

Hi Emily.   When you stopped did you put the gears into neutral?

Hi, I'm guessing that you had selected 'Neutral' or 'Park' otherwise by now you should just about be entering orbit !!

Could you actually hear the engine screaming as it got to the Red Line, or was it you were watching the rev counter ?

If it hasn't done it again I wonder if the throttle peddle had just temporarily got stuck.   Common causes of this are the carpet coming loose.

Thanks. No I've had no issues since. Have moved the carpet back slightly

I put it in neutral and it carried on revving then put it in park and back to drive and everything went back to normal
