Fiesta Windshield washer not working

Featured Replies

Checked Fuse (Good), Fluid motor (Good). Motor is not turning on. Pulled it out of car and hooked up directly to battery and motor runs fine. Checked power to motor and have power to both terminals. Only thing I can think of is a short between wires providing power to both terminals, but can not find any damage to wires.

Any suggestions?

If there was a short it would surely blow the fuse.

Hi Jim, welcome to the 'For Owners Club'

The screen wash pump is controlled by the BCM (body control module). The same pump does the front and rear screen. It runs clockwise for one screen and anti-clocwise for the other.

The common fault when these stop working is a fault with the BCM, normally water gets in to the connectors and the pins corrode.

If it was mine and could not see anything obvious I might be tempted to put a push button switch on the side of the steering column and wire it from a live supply to pump and just have front washer working.  Not ideal but how much effort/ money are you prepared to commit to having it working properly on the stalk switch.

Have you tried a new wiper stalk? They're a lot more common than a BCM (unless your BCM has obvious signs of water damage)
