Awful Brake Squeal Ford Fiesta MK7.5 2015

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

Ford Fiesta MK7.5 2015

Hope to get some guidance on this little issue i have been having.

About a 2 months ago my front brake started squealing very bad when braking - only when braking.

I thought, i havent changed the brake pads for a while, they probably have worn down. Changed them, to eicher pads from ECP. They were okay for a few hours and then the squealing continued (the replaced pads had plenty of life in them).

On the following weekend i decided to change the disks to incase they were the issue - the old disks were quite worn but still nothing too bad that would scream - replace me!

Cleaned and changed the disks - Still squealing!

Changed the brake hardware - same again.

Cleaned and lubricated the caliper and the slide pins. Still squealing!

Im tempted to change the pads again to the Brembo ones however just wanted to see if anyone had any other thoughts before i do so.

Thanks for all your help in advance!

Kam

Why not try Ford OEM parts - I would think that would be the best route to minimise squealing

Some people smear copper grease on back of pads. I am told it reduces squeal. Squeal is a high pitch vibration which is dampened by the copper grease

I have the same pads been on the car a few months= 2000 miles and no problems with them I did do the above, copper grease the back of them 👌

I refuse to use ECP any more, unless it's for screen wash or things like that and I'm not a fan of people buying parts from there and asking me to fit them, the 2 garages local to me also have nothing good to say about ECP, however, a friend recently asked me to install brembo pads on his car that he got from ECP (I'm sure I read somewhere ECP own brembo now but I could be wrong), they came with replacement hardware and you could tell they were more of a premium product than eicher. Also I no longer use copper grease, I use ceratec, I've never had any problems with copper grease but I ran out and people were raving about ceratec so I picked that up instead.

Thank you for all the responses guys.

I have tried copper grease on the back of the pads, seemed to have worked for once again a few hours of driving.

What i think it is, is the collection of brake dust on the calipers and the pads causing the squeal. It seems like every time i take off the calipers and pads, clean them, put them back on. They brakes dont squeal for a bit. I wonder whether its just the poor quality brake pads from eicher causing the excess brake dust to gather and causing the squeal.

I think ill give it another go with either the Brembo or OEM pads and if that doesnt work, just send it into the garage to have a look.

Thanks Kam
