New Seatbelkt Required

Featured Replies

Hi, My seatbelt needs replacing on the Front drivers side but i cant seem to find the correct seatbelt to buy, i only need the reel not the buckle, i was asked whether i need a pre tensioner or not and im unsure what to reply? Any help would be massively appreciated

If I remember correctly, on the belt near the real is a data tag with the part number on it.

The pre-tensioner is part of the buckel attached to the seat. If you are not replacing the buckel part then you will not need the pre-tensioner.

I'm not sure what the deal is on second hand seatbelts from vehicle recycling centres (scrap yards). It maybe because it is safety related they won't sell you one and that you will have to buy a brand new one from Ford (take out a mortgage).

There will be many on here who will say you must never ever buy a second hand seatbelt just encase its ever been subjected to high strain forces, but of course the same people will be quite happy to buy an entire secondhand car, complete with used belts, and used tyres !!

my drivers seatbelt started locking on every tiny little pull so i bought a used one off ebay which hadnt exploded and the garage fitted it for me. the part number is on the tag at the bottom of the belt (if i remember rightly the last few digits do not matter but the rest will need to be the same). but if you get a second hand one maske sure its never exploded/set the air bag light off.

It's the pre-tennsioner that has the explosive charge, not the belt.
