Jammed tailgate (boot) on Galaxy

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Can you help?

Reg: 16 plate
Make / Model: Ford Galaxy Zetec Tdci Auto

We've managed to jam the tailgate (boot) of our Galaxy shut. Basically a rucsack strap got caught in the mechanism and now the boot is not opening (see pic 1).

If you press the button on the tailgate it makes a small click but does not release. If you go to drive the car it think the tailgate is open. But it isn't. Presumably a sensor is being blocked.

Above the mechanism is a small covering, if you take it off, there is a hole of the left and a torx screw on the right (see pic 2).

Resolving the issue, could be as simple as removing the screw. But of course that could makes things more complicated and we don't want to make things worse.

Question: Is this issue something we can fix ourselves, or are we going to need to take the car to a garage?

Any thoughts please. Thanks in advance.

Let us know if you need any more info. And apologies if we've accidentally broken any rules. Noob post.

hi,

can you please upload a picture to include more of the bottom boot panel,

as ive had this happen to me in mu mk2.5 2010 ford focus where there were two caps in the lower boot panel.

pop out the caps then undo two Tx40 bolts to free the bottom latch allowing the boot to lift.

can purchase a TX40 bit at halfords then keep the receipt to return when the job is done.

Thanks all for your views.

And thanks @BigLen for your comments.

Turns out brute force helped resolved this one.

One person pulling from one side and two pushing from the other. Sorted.
