Buzzing/vibrating coming from dash

Featured Replies

Hi, I have a Ford Fiesta 2015 and I've taken to sitting in the car at lunch time for some peace. I'm sat without the engine on and the keys on the seat next to me, not in the ignition. I do lock the doors though (for safety). Once I've been sat in there for a while, there will be a single, short buzz from the passenger side dashboard area, almost like it's coming from the glove compartment. It sounds exactly like a mobile phone getting a text while on vibrate. It also does it when I open the door to leave, but it doesn't do it when I press the door lock button from inside the car.

What on Earth could this be? I don't think there's anything wrong as it isn't constant but it drives me crazy when it happens! I've searched all over looking for anything that it could be but it appears to be coming from inside the dash.

Any ideas?

The Body Control Module (BCM) is beside the Glovebox and has a lot of Electrical Relays amongst other things. When you wake the car up by unlocking it several things come to life even before starting the car. If you then don't start the car some of these will go to sleep again, not necessarily at the same time as each other and sometimes after several minutes.

It must be one of these and nothing to worry about.

As @Tizer has said it's all perfectly normal and nothing to worry about. In fact I would worry if it didn't buzz, it is very possibly the fuel lines getting pre-charged ready for engine start.

Just had a thought, has the GF left a "toy" in the glovebox ? 🤣
