John287
My Fiesta's ignition key battery keeps needing replacing according to the control panel. The most recent one has lasted less than a month... Am I doing something wrong? Thanks...
anon
Dig through the postings on here as this came up within the last month and there was a reset procedure suggested which I have not needed but others say that they have done.
isetta
On another car I had problem with the key batteries. I was using cheap eBay ones. Bought genuine Duracell and all was fine after that
anon
Fair comment. Despite long use by dates, not all coin cells are created equal - nor yet their vendors. Honestly, the safest deal is Duracells from your local Tesco. They are about the freshest you will get, you know they are genuine and they are a sound product. Bobr
Had my car service by Ford today. They told me the battery in the key fob needed replacing and offered to do it for £14.99. As if!
unofix
Arnold Clark have offered to fix my faulty screenwash jet for only £57 plus parts, while its in getting its first service (£272.00) I unblocked it this afternoon using an old toothbrush, took less than 5 minutes ! John287
Thanks for replies. I am actually using Duracell CR 2016. From Tesco too. I just don't know what to do...
anon
I think this is the control panel at fault and not the key. Does it still unlock the car at a reasonable distance? If it does then it is not the key fob that is faulty.
anon
It would help to know the year and model of the car.
John287
Thanks. Yep, it locks/unlocks the car from some distance. It's a Fiesta, 2015...
anon
Mark seven, then. There will be a sequence for resetting the key once the battery has been changed and it will not be obvious. Now we know what the car is, somebody will probably be able to assist you better but I don't think there is a real problem with the car, just one of the systems being confused. anon
Got it! Blatto of this parish reported it in January. The solution found for a mark 8 (so may not be the same), was to lock and unlock the car three times in succession with the key fob which reset the battery low warning. I don't know if it works on yours but give it a try and if it does, please let us all know because it will add to our knowledge base.
JMacc
I too have a 2015 Fiesta Titanium Ecoboost and have been going through key fob batteries at a ridiculous rate. Just off to buy a new pack today. ☹️ Duracell have lasted a couple of months whilst cheaper versions only weeks. Is there a known fault? As noted OP used 2016 and I use 2032. https://www.apogeeweb.net/circuitry/cr2016-cr2032-difference.html

JMacc
So tried the 3 locks on off (using spare key) then put a supposedly dead battery back in current key fob. It worked. Thanks again Brenda; may your knowledge base continue to expand.
