That's exactly how they worked on my Mk3 Focus. Very easy to press the button if you want to get the front end closer to something than guesswork alone will achieve.

No, I have the foresight to reverse in which makes it much easier and safer to pull out again later on... :wink:  

But on the rare occasions I have no choice but to pull forward, it's really no bother to switch them on, doesn't take any memory as the car image takes up the whole media screen when the optical sensors are in use, very obvious to see it's not there. :smile:
