John Gorman
Recently bought a Fiesta Mk8 ST-3 and am going to have a REVO stage 1 remap done. Question is is it worthwhile fitting a high flow air filter or air induction kit as well ? Don't particularly want more engine noise. It's more from a performance point of view. Thanks for any advise 👍
anon
The same stock air filter is used on the more powerful versions of that engine so it is not restricting the power while it is doing its job of protecting your engine. Unless you are doing a full race build, where engine life will not matter, fancy pipes and air filters are for one purpose only. That purpose is to empty the pockets of the gullible into the tills of the accessory manufacturers. There will inevitably be a rejoinder from some boy racer explaining how it has made his ten year old Fiesta do 0-60 in 3 and 210 mph in second gear but as Patrick Moore said of astrology : " It has one use- it proves that there is one born every minute." Where do Ford use “the more powerful version of that engine”?

anon
Beg pardon Mark. That is the high output engine. Doh! Still won't go any faster with an induction kit though.
Jim H
Mountune fit a K&N filter to their performance upgrade. However it is not a simple pipe and cone filter, but an upgraded airbox with cold air feed and a panel filter. The package is expensive, but as far as I know is Ford approved. You can run simple re-map with stock filter, but if you do choose to upgrade, do it before remapping. Whichever map you chose remember to inform your insurance company of the upgrade. alexp999
Nothing from Mountune is ford approved for the current models. The last ford approved parts were for the mk7 fiesta and mk3 focus.
John Gorman
Thanks for the advise guys. Reckon I'll just get the stage 1 remap and stick with the standard air filter 👍
