Bonnet open warning

Featured Replies

Hi I have a Focus 1.8 diesel  estate in Spain.   I leave the car at an airport while I am back in the UK, while the pandemic was going the battery went flat and they tried to jump start it and managed to cook the ECU. So i bought a complete set on Ebay. The only numbers that did not match was the body control module. I put it in the car and everything works perfect, The only problem I have is the bonnet open light is on. this car does not have this function, ie no wires coming out of the ECU for this function,  The only option now is I ether put a wire in the ECU plug and short it out, """"this would be a pain to do""""""". Or if I get some diagnostic software that would enable me to get in to the Body control module to turn this function off  . what diagnostic tool would give me this option?.

Anyone have any idea's

Paul

Hello Paul, I would have expected that your car would have been able to check the bonnet latch as it just uses the same switch as the alarm system.

If your're sure that there is no switch fitted on the bonnet latch then you could try disabling it using FORScan.

You can down load it from here : https://forscan.org/download.html.

Its free for most functions, but things to do with security and the PATS system you need to buy the licence (£10). You will need a good ELM327 lead which can be bought from TunnelRat Electronics : https://tunnelrat-electronics.fwscart.com/USB_Modified_with_switch_ELM327/p4541936_17045457.aspx
