simondrose1
Hi Guys, I've recently bought a 2016 Ford Fiesta for my son's first car. Unfortunately we had a puncture the other day and I had trouble taking the wheel off because the wheel nuts had been slightly rounded off. Apparently this is a common problem on Ford Fiestas. Does anyone know where I can get some tempered higher quality replacements? Many Thanks Simon
isetta
I hadn’t heard of this being a common problem. I don’t know where to get better ones, but in case someone does is it for alloy wheels or steel wheels (totally different style of nut). Were you using a hexagon or a 12 point socket / spanner? simondrose1
Hi Isetta, It's for alloys. Thanks Simon
Luke4efc
The usual cause of rounded nuts is because they're made up of 2 pieces. A soft inner part and a hardened case 'crimped' ontop of it (this is where your 19mm socket goes). If a garage has used a nut runner in the past then these caps can fall off leaving an 18mm hex head. As these are soft they will easily round off, especially when a 19mm socket is used instead of 18mm. As isetta says are you using a 6-point or 12-point socket to remove them?
unofix
The wheel nuts supplied from this company seem good quality, I got the replacment nuts for my daughters Kuga from them. https://www.autodoc.co.uk/?brnd=1&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=organic+promo&gclid=CjwKCAjwoP6LBhBlEiwAvCcthLpm7S8ymsyquVx8VmxVLD30DxQ9AKKnUQ2lounKhYGOOuFHfuJanBoCneoQAvD_BwE

I was using a 6 point socket but I tried a 12 point socket this afternoon which is much better. thanks for the reply.
