advice / help required to reprogram immobiliser on 2013 1.6tdci Mondeo

Featured Replies

Hi All, I dont know if this is the right forum to ask this question and apologise if I have got it wrong.  My daughters Mondeo (2013 1.6 TDCi MkIV) has been off the road now for over 3 months due to Engine malfunction fault.  It is with a local auto electrician and between us we have now got it down to just an immobiliser fault.  The cluster ECU has been renewed, but the guy doing the work is now saying that it needs a full reprogram and he needs to find someone who has full IDS (?) or it needs to go to Ford.  Is there anyone in the canterbury area who can help me out who I can get to chat to the local guy who is doing the work for me.  I'd rather not go down the Ford route.

Hello Martin, depending on what exactly needs to be programmed you can most likely do it.

You need a laptop and install FORScan which you can download from here:  https://forscan.org/download.html

The software is free but in your case you will need to buy the full licence (£10) so that you can programme the PATS security system.

You will need a good quality ELM327 lead to connect to the OBDII port. Buy the one from TunnelRat Electronics (£17.95)

Hi Unofix, thanks for replying to this.  I have just bought the lead, should be here in couple of days.  I will see how I get on and post back once I have all the kit and s/w.  Hopefully I will be able to get my daughters car back on the road for her.  Cheers for the info

Now stuck again.  I need to carry out module initialisation using Forscan, but I am stuck at the point of entering the Incode.  The outcode I have starts with 1144 and I cant find any calculator that will work for this.  Can anyone tell me how I can get a code?  I have to go visit the car at the guys workshop so I cant leave it all connected up and just post the outcode and wait for a reply.  Any help on this would be gratefully received

If anyone can actually do this job for me (at the car) I do not expect it for free and am quite will to pay.  Just want car back on road after 19 weeks.

Hi Martin, not able to help with the codes but have you tried going to the FORScan forum ?

I am fairly sure you cannot program immobiliser using Forscan

6. Why doesn’t FORScan have PATS programming function for European models after 2010-2011 model years?

Q. Why doesn’t FORScan have PATS programming function for European models after 2010-2011 model years?

A. Ford models for EU market used coded access to PATS. Old models prior to 2011 used so-called "old" coded method, outcode/incode calculator for it is available in public access. Newer models after 2010-2011 have new coded methods which have no outcode/incode calculators available. So, although it is not a problem to implement PATS programming functions for new cars, it doesn't make sense without the calculator.

There are few exceptions from this rule: some new models sold on EU market have timed access, so FORScan has PATS programming function for these cars.

We work on the PATS programming problem.

What was wrong with your old cluster?

Hi Dave,  to cut a long story short,  cluster was sent off with main ECU and ABS unit to see if fault was in one of them.  Advised that cluster unit was faulty and paid for replacement.  Eventually also found loose wire causing Engine malfunction which has now gone, but now have immobiliser fault and have been told that modules need initialising to sort this out.  I now understand that post 2010 PATS incode is difficult to obtain, but if I can find someone mobile that can come and initialise the modules I can take it from there and finish it off (one way or another 🙂 )  Just searching online to see if anyone can do this for me.

Have you tried putting the old cluster back in if there was found to be a damaged wire?

Unfortunately I dont have the original cluster as this was exchanged (for £495) for a 'working' one.  I have a route forward now.  I have found an independent garage who has a licenced Ford system who can sort it out. It appears after 2010 on the Mondeo you have to use the Ford s/w as nothing else works - so much for reparability.  Just got to get car shifted to their workshop which I'm in the process of arranging.

Thanks for everyone's help.
