How does the wiring feed secure to the ABS module on a MK6 and is it easy to remove? Also, how’s does the module fix to bulkhead?

Got to replace module abs but as it’s not that accessible I can’t easily see fixtures abs don’t want to start snapping plastic parts if there is an easy removal method

On my brothers mk6.5 I had a look at removing abs as it had failed but it looked like a horrible job and the car has been sat in his garden for three years now. There is a lever on the connector which when you pull it up at one end it will lever the connector pull out of the socket. But I think you have to squeeze something to release a clip in order to move the lever. I can’t remember exactly. But after that it still looks a horrible job and needs the brake pipes all unscrewing , six from memory.  My brother now drives a corsa c and I observed that the abs on that is the easiest to get to that you could ever get. If you do manage to fix this I would be interested to hear how you got on and where you got another unit from.  My brother did ask some garages about doing the work and they said they would only do it with a brand new Ford unit as that had trouble in the past fitting recon units which they couldn’t get to work right 

 

Thanks for the heads up. I have been quieted to fit a secondhand one so may go ahead. If it was accessible I would have a go myself but…. Yeh, will let you know
