Electric window has stopped working!

Featured Replies

My drivers side window has stopped working on my Fiesta 06. Pressed it halfway down and it just stopped. No sound or movement when I press the switch. Checked the 30 amp fuse in the glove box and that seems fine. Don’t really know where to start first tbh. I’ve heard it could be the fuses, relay, switch or motor! Can anyone help please?
Thanks

First thing might be to check the switch and to see if you are getting 12V to it - this should be apparent as the switch illuminating LEDS will be on.

Can you control the passenger window from the driver's door switch ? If so the earth is probably OK.

If the motor is not rotating (ie no noise!) then the mechanism may be jammed, possibly fooling the limit switch  in the motor to "think" the window is either fully up or fully down.  This may need significant dismantling to access the bowden cable arrangement which lifts and lowers the glass.  The grease on the runners has been there for 15 years so they will need cleaning and fresh grease applied.
