Rusty water

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I'm not sure if anyone can help.  My wife's 2010 1.4 Titanium started misfiring the Saturday before last and when I popped the bonnet, all I could see was a thin line of dried rust in the channel where the plugs are. As the rest of the engine is dusty, we just thought this was old as well.

Went for a drive and the misfiring got worse and when we dropped it to my friend to check out on Saturday, the rust marks was now covering the entire engine block.  It's all been dried out and plugs changed but we are curious where the water is coming from.  Core plugs are ok, checked the drains but I can't imagine water is getting in from rain/washing because she's had it for 12 months and never had an issue.

Has anyone come across this before?

Are windscreen washer hoses and joints all good? I’m pretty sure they run above the engine to get to the jets on the bonnet.

All looks good at the moment, I'm wondering if when I was washing it the other day, water managed to get down into the engine although I'd be surprised.
